Three Christians from Azerbaijan and one from Iran are behind bars in an unknown location in Iran – after they were arrested at an engagement party.
Pray for our four brothers in Iran: the Azeris are being held in solitary confinement and consular officials have not been allowed to visit them.
They believe they were ‘set up and caught in a trap’ when security officials raided the party in Tehran on June 24.
Ten people were arrested at the party: only the three Azeris – called Eldar Gurbanov, Yusif Farhadov and Bahram Nasibov – and an unnamed Iranian Christian remain in custody. No charges have yet been brought against them.
Meanwhile, there’s good news about our Iranian brother Amin Khaki: he’s been freed from Ahvaz Prison.
Amin was among eight people arrested at a picnic in Shoush in March 2014. Four of them, including Amin, were given a one-year sentence for ‘spreading Christianity’.
They were conditionally released and granted a retrial this February, but their sentences were upheld and they returned to prison last month to serve the rest of their sentences. Hossein Barounzadeh, Mohammad Bahrami and Rahman Bahmani still have four months left to serve.
- Please pray for the immediate release without charge of our Azeri and Iranian brothers in Tehran.
- Thank God for the release of Amin Khaki in Ahvaz: pray that no new charges will be brought against him. Pray that Hossein, Mohammad and Rahman will be freed too.
- Pray that our Christian family in Iran will know God’s peace, joy and protection today.
