A pastor in China is paying a high price for following Christ – not only is he in jail for his faith and separated from his family but he is now seriously ill.
While serving as co-pastor of a large unregistered church in Guiyang, Yang Hua was detained in December 2015 and charged with divulging state secrets. Instead of receiving the typical 10-day administrative detention, he was held for more than a year without trial. On December 26 last year he was convicted and sentenced to two and a half years in prison. His wife, Wang Hongwu, asks us to pray for her beloved husband who is seriously ill as a result of the conditions in prison.
Let’s support this precious family by committing to pray for them for at least the next four weeks and by writing to Yang Hua in prison (see here for details).
Click here to read a letter which Wang Hongwu wrote to the church asking us to remember her husband in our prayers.
Please also continue to remember the two Sudanese nationals who were in prison with Czech Christian Petr Jasek and who still remain in detention in Sudan (see last month’s Prisoners alert).
Our brothers and sisters behind bars need to know they are not forgotten: your support makes a world of difference. Thank you for your faithful prayers, gifts, letters and campaigning.
Release International supports Christian prisoners of faith prayerfully, pastorally and practically wherever they are imprisoned.
